Manuel Pestana Boavida Salavessa is the father of two great and eternally unfinished projects – Clara and Afonso – and driven by an insatiable curiosity for how things work. He is an optimist in the evolution and development of people and its impact on the larger system, which has influenced his professional choices over time. Passionate about sports and music, full-time hobbies that he performs diligently but not very well, a reason that led him to graduate in Medicine from the Faculdade de Ciências Médicas de Lisboa. He completed his speciality in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Hospital D. Estefânia, with a stint at the Central Institut for Mental Health in Mannheim, Germany. In 2016, he took the Advanced Management Program for Executives at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
He works in the Pharmaceutical Industry since 2011, having started his career at Janssen in 2017, first as head of the medical area of psychiatry and, since 2018, as Medical and Regulatory Director. He is an affiliated professor at the Faculdade de Ciências Médicas since 2017, in the course unit of Medical Psychology and Behavioral Medicine.
