David Belo

Introduction to Deep Learning
for Biomedical Engineering

David Belo has received a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minho in 2007. He has research experience in biosignal processing and also in using machine learning to extract meaningful information and decision support as a researcher at the Instituto Superior do Técnico at the University of Lisbon, from 2009 to 2014.

In parallel, he also gained experience in programming mobile applications, websites, and management software outside academia. Currently, he is a researcher and Ph.D. student at LIBPHYS-FCT at NOVA University of Lisbon, specializing in the development of Deep Learning architectures to apply to biosignal processing and classification. In addition to this, he has participated in the summer of 2019 in the NASA Frontier Development Lab in developing AI tools for aiding the Astronaut Health program.
